Dermot John Seymour

Dermot is a self-taught artist who left Social Science teaching in 1975 to concentrate on a growing love of Art and Painting. He has held 12 solo exhibitions in New South Wales, Queensland, Victoria, and the Australian Capital Territory, where he has resided since 1992. His paintings have become part of collections in 10 countries throughout the world, and have been featured on television, film documentaries, and musical record, book and magazine covers.
Throughout his career, his oeuvre has embraced an eclectic range of styles, subject matter and medium, but in the last 7 years he has specialised in watercolour landscape painting.
Since 1992 he has also been a teacher of drawing, life drawing and water colour painting to adults at several campuses in Canberra.
Currently his landscapes have become more minimal in terms of content, as he aspires to manipulate his mastery of colour and the watercolour medium in the direction of an atmosphere infused with spiritual inference.
Dermot has received many awards for his paintings in three Australian States
